Scholarly Associations

Associations play a pivotal role in the research world, and are instrumental in ensuring a strong infrastructure for researchers, practitioners, new scholars and graduate students.
Canadian scholarly associations:

  • Help strengthen research collaboration through membership;
  • Engage scholars from all parts of the country;
  • Facilitate the development of new research areas, often interdisciplinary in nature;
  • Provide a forum for Canadian scholars who are active in the development of research policy;
  • Support the development of young scholars;
  • Disseminate research through journals and annual conferences;
  • Maintain links with international scholarship;
  • Encourage links with non-academic researchers and research users.
